A two-decade reunion: S.S. Rajamouli praises Genelia Deshmukh: “You are frozen in time, man!”

Following the success of Sitaare Zameen Par, Genelia Deshmukh is set to return with her next theatrical release, Junior. A video of Genelia and director S.S. Rajamouli reuniting after nearly twenty years at the film’s pre-release event has gone viral, reminding fans of their 2004 collaboration, Sye.

Their camaraderie in the viral clip resonated with viewers. Sye introduced rugby to Telugu cinema and was a key early milestone for both Genelia and Rajamouli. Their recent meeting reminded fans of that formative chapter in Telugu cinema.

 

During the Junior pre-release event, SS Rajamouli stated, "Genelia, you are frozen in time, man. What... how many years have passed away, yet you look exactly the same. I even asked cinematographer Senthil if we'll see a new Genelia in this, and he assured, we will. I am eagerly waiting for it.”

 

Responding to his sentiments, Genelia said, “You are too too kind, sir. Means so much to me.”

 

The pre-release event was a successful showcase for the upcoming film. Junior is slated for release on July 18. Directed by Radhakrishna Reddy, the film along with Genelia stars Kireeti Reddy, Sreeleela and V. Ravichandran in pivotal characters.

 

Beyond Junior, Genelia Deshmukh has an exciting slate of projects lined-up. Her upcoming ventures include a horror-comedy directed by Ram Gopal Verma, titled Police Station Mein Bhoot. She also has action-romance-drama Gunmaaster G9, where the actress will share screen space with Emraan Hashmi.
