Rashmika Mandanna drops trailer for The Girlfriend: Love, doubts, and a tangled romance unfold

The trailer for Rashmika Mandanna starrer The Girlfriend has dropped, offering fans a glimpse into a romantic drama that explores the complexities of modern relationships. Following her recent success in Thamma, Rashmika is back on the big screen, portraying a character caught between love and uncertainty.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Rashmika dropped the trailer of the film, a fortnight ahead of its release, with the caption, “This one’s not your usual love story.. it’ll make you think”.

 

The trailer opens with Rashmika’s character, Bhooma, hesitantly suggesting that they should take a “small break” clarifying that she means a real break and not just a pause to her boyfriend Vikram. A flashback shows the key moment when Vikram proposed, during which, he had insisted that Bhooma is the perfect partner for him. But soon, Bhooma finds herself trapped in uncertainty wondering if she is in love with Vikram, or merely the idea of him?

 

The trailer is peppered with light-hearted, romantic sequences showing Rashmika and Dheekshith as a couple deeply in love — teasing each other, sharing cheeky smiles, and playful exchanges such as “you kissed last night” and contrasts it with more complicated intense emotional landscape of arguments, anger, and self-doubt. The film, written and directed by Rahul Ravindran, is produced by Dheeraj Mogilineni and Vidya Koppineedi, with music by Hesham Abdul Wahab and cinematography by Krishnan Vasant. Alongside Rashmika and Dheekshith Shetty, the film also features Koushik Mahata, Rohini, and Rao Ramesh in key roles. It is slated to release on November 7 in multiple languages.

 

With The Girlfriend, Rashmika continues to build on her repertoire of diverse roles. The film promises to blend romance, drama, and introspection, supported by a talented ensemble cast and visually engaging cinematography.
