Netflix has officially announced its upcoming Tamil original film Made In Korea, starring Priyanka Mohan in the lead role, with Park Hye-Jin joining her in a pivotal part. Directed by R.A. Karthik and produced by Srinidhi Sagar under the Rise East Entertainment banner, Made In Korea promises to be a heartwarming yet emotional tale of self-discovery, cultural connection, and human resilience.

The streaming platform took to social media to unveil the first look poster of the film, teasing a refreshing cross-cultural tale with the caption, “South Indian vibes meet Korea dreams… Oru ponnu, Oru Kathai - aana rendu culture! Athu yepdi (One girl, one story – but two cultures! How does that even work?)”. The announcement immediately sparked excitement across both Indian and Korean entertainment circles, as fans praised Netflix for backing a film that celebrates the growing cultural exchange between the two regions.

 

The film follows Shenba, a young woman whose dream of visiting Korea with her boyfriend shatters in betrayal. Left to navigate a new life in Seoul, Shenba struggles with loneliness and the challenges of adapting to a foreign culture. But as she rebuilds herself, she forms deep, meaningful friendships that transform her journey into one of empowerment and healing.

 

Director Ra Karthik, known for his emotional storytelling, spoke about what inspired the film: “Korean culture has significantly influenced Indian culture over the past decade. Personally, I had never watched a K-drama or listened to K-pop until I began working on Made In Korea. During my research, I was fascinated to discover the deep cultural connections and historical similarities between Korean and Tamil heritage. This curiosity inspired me to tell a story that resonated deeply with me. Made In Korea reflects a slice of life, crafted with hope and joy, celebrating this unique cultural bond.”

 

 

Leading lady Priyanka Mohan also shared her excitement about being part of the project, saying, “What drew me to this project was the strength and uniqueness of its narrative — it’s a compelling story that immediately captured my interest. As someone who has always appreciated Korean dramas, the opportunity to be part of an Indo-Korean collaboration was both exciting and meaningful.”
