According to the reports, six crew members of Bigg Boss Malayalam had tested positive for Covid-19.  In a statement by the channel, it was officially announced, “Bigg Boss Malayalam 3 is temporarily suspended due to the rising COVID-19 cases and lockdown in Tamil Nadu. The show will be restarted soon the crisis is over.”

Reportedly, the EVP Film City where Bigg Boss Malayalam season 3 was being filmed was sealed on Wednesday by a team of officials, led by Thiruvallur Revenue Divisional Officer Preethi Parkavi. The team reached the set at Chembarambakkam and sealed it around 8 pm.

A case has been filed under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 for violation of government guidelines. FEFSI Union President RK Selvamani had already issued a statement saying that no film and small screen shootings should happen. Despite this, the production house continued to shoot as it was a continuous episode.

Preethi Parkavi, Tiruvallur Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO), told a tabloid that they entered the set and saw people inside the glass doors, and food was delivered to them inside the set. There were seven contestants and other crew members like cameraman, technicians, and other production staff. The makers said that they needed five more days to complete the 100-day episode and 95 days of the show have already been completed.  However, the permission was refused and the set was sealed and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh.

The contestants of the show have now been shifted to a private hotel and other technicians who were staying in a rented apartment have been asked to vacate it. The production house was also asked to provide e-passes to all the employees so that they can return to Kerala.
