Kamal Haasan pens a heartfelt note after meeting Oscar-winning makeup artist Mike Westmore

Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan who was recently in the Los Angeles for the launch of Project K, met with his old friend and colleague Mike Westmore, the Oscar-winning make-up artist. Reminiscing their remarkable 40-year-old friendship and professional journey, the duo spoke about their collaboration on films like Indian, Avvai Shanmughi and Dasavatharam.

For the unversed, Kamal Haasan played the role of a 70-year-old vigilante Senapathy in Indian (1996). In Avvai Shanmughi (1996), which also made in Hindi as Chachi 420, the superstar was seen in the role of an old woman whereas in Dasavatharam (2008), he essayed 10 different characters with different makeup with the help of prosthetics and other techniques. Recalling those days, Kamal also penned a note along with sharing a memorable photo with Mike Westmore, as he said, “From (The arrow in the sun) Soldier Blue where I saw Mike Westmore’s work to this day. I have admired Mike’s work from inside out. Had the joy of working with him on make up and also wearing it to fame and applause. 40 years have flown with the speed of an arrow. #michaelwestmore”.

 

 

Interestingly, along with the Nag Ashwin sci-fi drama Project K, Kamal Haasan is also busy with reviving the popular 1996 franchise Indian with Indian 2. The S Shankar directorial will see the return of the former freedom fighter turned vigilante Senapathy along with Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, among others, essaying pivotal roles. Even though the release date of the film is yet to be announced, we hear that the makers are eyeing at a release date next year.

 

As for Project K, the film stars Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in the lead along with Amitabh Bachchan, Disha Patani, and Kamal Haasan essaying pivotal characters. The teaser of the film was unveiled in a grand manner at the San Diego Comic Con which was attended by the team of the film including Haasan. It is slated for release in January next year.
