Yoo Ah In starrer The Match and Goodbye Earth to postpone releases amid drug abuse investigation
Makers of Yoo Ah In’s upcoming projects The Match and Goodbye Earth have decided to postpone the release amid the actor’s drug abuse investigation.
According to the Korean tabloid Soompi, Netflix’s Goodbye Earth is an upcoming drama that tells the stories of four individuals living through a chaotic situation where there are 200 days remaining until Earth’s collision with an asteroid. The Match is a film about Go players.
On March 27, a source from Netflix announced in a statement, “Following discussion with the production team, we have decided to tentatively postpone the release of Goodbye Earth. We will inform you again of the specific release schedule once it is confirmed.”
The source added, “We are carrying out discussion regarding the film The Match with the production company ACEMAKER and related affiliates, and we have decided to temporarily postpone the release.” Both the projects have already wrapped up filming.
Yoo Ah In has been investigated for habitual use of substances, including propofol, marijuana, cocaine, and ketamine. Police began investigating him in February 2023 and also performed a search and seizure of various doctor’s offices and clinics that were suspected of having illegally administered the drug to Yoo Ah In since 2021.
The actor has been tested positive for drugs like propofol, marijuana, cocaine and ketamine. According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police’s Drug Crime Investigation Unit, Yoo Ah In was summoned by the police on March 27, as shared by the outlet.
