House of the Dragon 2 Teaser: War wages in Westeros as Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen prepare for the battle against Alicent Hightower for the Iron Throne and avenge Lucerys death

The first teaser of House Of The Dragon season 2 is here and a war is on the rise. “There is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin, and no war so bloody as a war between dragons,” warns Princess  Rhaenys Targaryen in the first glimpse which was unveiled at the CCXP convention on Saturday in Brazil. The eight-episode second season debuts summer 2024 in India on JioCinema in June.

The story of the second season of the prequel series of Game Of Thrones will pick up following the death of Prince Lucerys Velaryon and his rider dragon Arrax as they were killed by Prince Aemond Targaryen, also known as Aemond One-Eye or Aemond the Kinslayer. Rhaenyra Targaryen and Daemon Targaryen are looking for the remains of Lucerys as the fight for the throne begins and they both prepare to avenge the death of Rhaenyra’s son. The grief is visible on Rhaenyra’s face as she looks at Dragonstone Castle in the teaser.

 

In the teaser, Otto Hightower says, “Errors were made in the hours following King Viserys' death,” as foreboding music intensifies. Alicent Hightower adds, “The war will be fought, many will die, and the victor will eventually ascend the throne.”

A bunch of new actors will join the second season who will play notable book characters from George R.R. Martin's “Fire and Blood”. They include Clinton Liberty who will essay the role of Addam of Hull; Jamie Kenna takes on the role of Ser Alfred Broome; Kieran Bew will play Hugh; Tom Bennett will be playing Ulf; Vincent Regan will play Ser Rickard Thorne and Tom Taylor is on board to play Lord Cregan Stark.

 

Season 1 had 10 episodes narrating the turbulent story of the House of Targaryen, set 200 years before the events that captivated global audiences in Game of Thrones. The series is a gripping saga that takes us deep into the extraordinary world of Westeros and explores the Targaryen family - the all-powerful dragon riders who are the seemingly invincible rulers of the seven kingdoms. Bitter rivalries, jealousy, lust, the quest for power, and betrayal will tear the Targaryens apart and threaten to destroy a dynasty that has ruled unchallenged for a century.

 

Directed by Miguel Sapochnik, Clare Kilner, Geeta Vasant Patel and Greg Yaitanes, with George R. R. Martin, Ryan Condal, and Miguel Sapochnik along with Sara Hess, Vince Gerardis and Ron Schmidt, helming as executive producers. Even though the series is a prequel to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon has an individual storyline with new characters played by an impressive cast, including Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, and Sonoya Mizuno.
