Madhavan further reflected on his initial perception of his character in the film, admitting he initially thought of it as a "negative lead." However, he credited Devgn for his astute decisions, including naming the film Shaitaan and positioning Madhavan's character prominently in the promotional material. Madhavan's gratitude towards Devgn extended to his admiration for Devgn's secure demeanour as an actor, highlighting the trust and confidence Devgn placed in his co-stars. He emphasized the rarity of such support in the industry, remarking, "You have to be supremely in love with your job and extremely confident in your skin to be able to do that for another actor."
