Pooja Bhatt responds to “absurd” rumours about Alia Bhatt being her daughter; says, “Ye toh humare desh mein bahut purani cheez hai”

Pooja Bhatt, the renowned actor and filmmaker, recently marked her debut in the world of OTT entertainment with Bigg Boss OTT 2. Surprisingly, the transition proved highly successful as Pooja managed to forge a profound connection with the digital audience, ultimately emerging as a finalist on the popular show. In a recent interview, the actress addressed a puzzling rumour that had circulated in the media regarding her relationship with Alia Bhatt.

In the past, there were reports claiming that Alia Bhatt is Pooja's daughter. However, it is essential to note that Alia and Pooja are half-sisters, both being the daughters of renowned filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. Pooja, reacting to the rumours about Alia being her daughter, deemed such reports “absurd.”

 

During a recent conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Pooja was informed that Alia had previously mocked these rumours. Pooja Bhatt remarked, “Ye toh humare desh mein bahut purani cheez hai (This is not new in our country). Start talking about somebody’s relationship with their daughter or with their bhabhi or with their sister or with their whatever. Now, how do you counteract that? Ke aap is cheez ko dignity bhi de sakte hai respond kar ke? It is absurd.”

 

Mahesh Bhatt became a parent in 1972 when Pooja Bhatt was born from his first marriage to Lorraine Bright, also known as Kiran Bhatt. Mahesh and Kiran's relationship began during their school years, leading to their marriage when Kiran was 20 and Mahesh was 21. Their daughter Pooja arrived soon after. However, their marriage faced challenges when Mahesh Bhatt entered into a relationship with Parveen Babi, leading to their separation. After a few years, Mahesh Bhatt found love again with Soni Razdan, and they tied the knot. The couple welcomed their elder daughter, Shaheen Bhatt, and later Alia Bhatt in 1993.
