Parth Samthaan responds to criticism over his role as new ACP in CID 2; says, “I’ve come to CID with a purpose, and that will unfold through the storyline”

Actor Parth Samthaan has responded to the criticism he faced after being cast as the new ACP in the iconic television show CID 2, taking over from Shivaji Satam. He acknowledged that he didn’t anticipate the trolling but expressed understanding of the audience’s strong emotional connection to the legendary character.

Parth Samthaan expressed his deep admiration for Shivaji Satam’s portrayal of ACP Pradyuman and clarified that he isn’t attempting to replace him, but rather bring a fresh perspective to the show. In an interview with India Forums, Parth shared, “Honestly, I didn’t expect the trolling to be this intense. I understand where it’s coming from. Even I have been a fan of Shivaji Sir and the original characters. If I were in the viewers’ place, I’d probably feel the same seeing someone new step into such a loved role.”

 

He went on to explain, “I’ve come to CID with a purpose, and that will unfold through the storyline. At the moment, Ayushman doesn’t have a bond with the other officers, and that tension will be explored. Replacing a legend is never easy. I’m not here to fill his shoes but to offer something new while honoring the legacy.”

 

Parth Samthaan, who plays ACP Ayushmann in the new season of CID 2, spoke about the immense responsibility of stepping into such a well-established role during an interview with Saas Bahu Aur Betiyaan. He acknowledged the challenge of taking over a beloved character and the weight of living up to the audience's expectations.

 

He shared, “When I discussed it with my family, they thought I was joking. But when I told them I was doing it seriously, they were very proud. It's actually a very big responsibility to fill in such shoes, such humongous shoes of ACP Pradyuman, since I'm replacing him as ACP Ayushman. It's a new character, a new story. We will take the story forward with new thrills and suspense. I never thought I would be part of such a collaboration. This is a cross-collaboration for me. I'm glad to be a part of such an iconic show.”

 

According to the storyline, ACP Ayushmann is introduced to solve the murder of ACP Pradyuman. Parth explained that his character will be investigating Pradyuman’s murder while also handling other cases. He mentioned that his portrayal of ACP Ayushmann brings a different dynamic compared to the former ACP, adding a fresh twist to the show.
