2021 is finally here and all the expectations that people had levied upon it in terms of ending the exile induced due to COVID might just turn out to be true. We have the vaccine! While that happens, we also have our regular dose of OTT entertainment which is getting bigger and better. 2021's slate of movies and web shows on various platforms is so rich that it would be difficult to pick a favourite this time. So let's begin...

1. Kapil Sharma's show (Netflix)

 

Now we aren't sure what exactly is it called, but Kapil Sharma could be bringing in his show on Netflix. Details are not out yet but if we have to guess, we wonder if it's a stand-up comedy act. He hasn't done that for a while now. It's still coming soon.

 

2. The Family Man 2 (Amazon Prime Video)

 

This spy thriller in its first season has managed to make everyone laugh and feel extremely invested in the storyline. Since then, people wanted an encore and finally, the sequel is here. This time it even has Samantha Akkineni in the mix too. The new season will start streaming from February 12.

 

3. Broken But Beautiful Season 3 (Alt Balaji, Zee5)

 

The past seasons of Broken But Beautiful have brought an end to Veer and Sameera's love story and now it's the turn for something new. So, Sidharth Shukla and Sonia Rathee will pair up for the new season. Our guess is it will start streaming around Valentine's Day.

 

4 Gullak 2 (SonyLIV)

 

The middle-class family of Mishra is all set to return to the small screens with their day-to-day issues. But it promises to be equally fascinating, enriching, enlightening and charming as the first season. The series starts streaming on January 15.

 

5. Tandav (Amazon Prime Video)

 

A much-delayed political thriller Tandav looks quite promising if we go by the trailer. Some really good and suave actors are part of the star cast which assures snazzy twists and turns. Ali Abbas Zafar debuts on digital with this which was earlier named Dilli and was part of Amazon's 2020 slate. Better late than never we would say as it starts streaming from January 15.

 

6. The White Tiger (Netflix)

 

An adaptation of Arvind Adiga's Booker-prize winning novel, The White Tiger has Adarsh Gaurav playing the lead role with Priyanka Chopra and Rajkummar Rao in crucial characters. The trailer is nifty and so, there are a lot of expectations from this. The movie will start streaming from January 22

 

7. The Big Bull and Bhuj - The Pride of India (Disney+Hotstar)

 

Two of the exclusive premieres of movies on Disney+ Hotstar are still awaited and they are Big Bull and Bhuj - The Pride of India. One is a movie on Harshad Mehta and the scandal while the latter is a true story of an Indian Air Force mission. Both show immense promise. Streaming dates of both are yet to be announced.

 

8 Zidd (Zee5)

 

This charts the journey of Kargi hero Major Deepender Singh Sengar and his bravery. It stars Amit Sadh in the lead and will start streaming from January 22.

 

Mumbai Diaries 26/11, Four More Shots 3, Test Case 3 are some of the other honourable mentions here as these are widely anticipated. But streaming dates of all of these are still unknown.
