Sanjay Leela Bhansali really enjoyed working with Hrithik Roshan in Guzaarish. The happy film on the dark theme of euthanasia turns 15 on November 19.

 

Hrithik Roshan had turned down Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani for THIS reason

 

After Guzaarish, Hrithik Roshan was very keen to do another film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. They had mutually agreed to work together on the director’s next project. Hrithik met Sanjay Bhansali expressing a desire to work with him again after Guzaarish. However, Hrithik could not do Bajirao Mastani as he was already committed to do another period epic Mohenjo Daro with Ashutosh Gowariker.

 

Going back in time for two back-to-back films would have been too much of the past in Hrithik’s present.

 

Interestingly, Hrithik also opted out of Karan Johar’s Shuddhi because of Gowariker’s film.

 

Both Mohenjo Daro and Shuddhi required close to 150 of Hrithik’s shooting days. In both the films, the characters go back into the past. Hrithik chose Ashutosh’s film over Shuddhi (which was shelved) and Bajirao Mastani. He had done one of his career’s most influential films Jodhaa Akbar with Ashutosh. He needed to stand by Gowariker when the director was going through a lean phase.

 

Of course, Mohenjo Daro was a disaster while Bajirao Mastani made history. Hrithik’s Guzaarish to work with Bhansali after their first collaboration remains unfulfilled.
