Freida Pinto raises her voice in support of Tanushree Dutta

While she is known as the Slumdog Millionaire lady in India, it is also a known fact that Freida Pinto is known for her extensive philanthropy work. Amongst that, the actress also works for women empowerment and that’s why even featured in the recently released hard hitting social drama Love Sonia. Although she is not an active on the Bollywood circuit, being an Indian she has always spoken about the issues in the country. And recently, she has come out in support of Tanushree Dutta.

For all those who have been living under hibernation, let us tell you that Tanushree Dutta created a furor last week with her explosive statement of accusing co-actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment. This has led to many Bollywood celebrities choosing sides and many actresses have come out in support of Dutta and also appreciating her courage to speak up against such a veteran actor. Amongst them is Freida Pinto.

 

Freida Pinto may not know Tanushree Dutta personally but that hasn’t stopped her from expressing her concern and support towards this former Bollywood actress. She has taken to Instagram to share this picture along with a long note expressing her thoughts on the ongoing controversy that has flared up between Tanushree Dutta and Nana Patekar.

 

“I add my voice to the other voices coming out in support of Tanushree's bravery because God knows this is not going to be easy for you, Tanushree. But what you have done is monumental and important and it has to shake the very core of a nation and an ideology that for too long has gotten away with heinous crimes against women and where the ugliness of misogyny has dominated the rights and suppressed any voice that has dared to speak up,” she said. But that wasn’t all. She further also urged her followers to support the actress who decided to speak up against the actor.
