EXCLUSIVE: Jatin Pandit opens up about never receiving an award; claims “it never bothers him”
Jatin-Lalit, a well-known composer duo, has given music to some of the iconic movies like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar, Yes Boss, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. However, when it comes to bagging awards and accolades, the duo have earned very few. While talking to Bollywood Hungama in an exclusive interview, Jatin Pandit opened up on whether not winning awards bothers him. When mentioned that he has given music to some of the best Bollywood films, for which, he has earned 11 nominations, the composer was quick to add that he was nominated for more than 11 times. The composer asserted, “Ek saal mai teen picture nominations mai aai thi (Once my three films were nominated in the same year).”
When asked if that bothers him, the veteran composer said, “No. Compensation is that the music of all the films became a hit for the years. And, that is my award.” Elaborating his take further, Jatin explained that though this thought is just for the sake of justification, he is happy for the fact that the music actually aged well.
He concluded by saying, “Ye ek khushi hai par uske sath agar award milta toh aur khushi hoti (Though I am happy with this, getting an award for the same would have increased my happiness).”
As the conversation progressed further, he also discussed his changed equation with his partner and brother over the years. When asked if the audience will ever see them together again, he asserted, “I have told this 100 times. I am always ready. But it has to happen from both sides. But I have stopped saying anymore because I was refused so many times. So I said theek hai, I have to respect everyone's privacy.”
