EXCLUSIVE: CBFC censors 3-second-long foul gesture, deletes 2-minute-22-second-long song sequence in Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard And Soft: The Tour

On May 8, Bollywood Hungama exclusively reported that Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard And Soft: The Tour’s release in India was postponed from May 8 to May 15 due to certain censor issues. Earlier this week, on May 11, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) finally cleared the film. In this article, Bollywood Hungama will exclusively focus on the cuts given to the concert movie.

The CBFC passed Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard And Soft: The Tour with a U/A 13+ certificate. However, the makers were asked to make certain modifications. The foul words were replaced wherever they were uttered in the film. A certain foul gesture involving a skeleton, lasting three seconds, was asked to be removed. It was replaced by a shot of a girl swinging on a rope. Finally, a 2 minutes-22-seconds-long song sequence was asked to be deleted.

 

According to an insider, despite the censorship, the film’s impact thankfully hasn’t been affected and it manages to leave a mark the way the makers intended.

 

Once these changes were made, Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard And Soft: The Tour was handed a censor certificate. The length of the film, as mentioned on the certificate is, 112.08 minutes. In other words, the film is 1 hours, 52 minutes and 8 seconds.

 

Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard And Soft: The Tour is a concert film and contains visuals captured during the global icon's sold-out world tour. As per the press statement, the film brings an innovative new concert experience to the big screen from one of the most celebrated and successful artists of our times. Interestingly, it's a rare concert film that will be released in 3D. It'll also have a release in the IMAX format. Billie Eilish is one of the directors, along with none other than James Cameron, of Titanic and Avatar fame.
