Vinay 'Dr. Cabbie' Virmani visits Canadian schools, introduces Isabelle Kaif

Now this is a kind of marketing and promotional initiative that has perhaps never been seen before. Though time and again one hears actors visiting malls and other public places for the promotion of their films, especially in Bollywood, there is a different route being taken by Dr. Cabbie which is an international outing with a mix of India, Canadian and American cast. The film is also special since it sees the coming together of Salman Khan Being Human [SKBH] Productions, FirstTake Entertainment, Caramel Films and Eros International.

 

Vinay Virmani [Breakaway, David] along with Isabelle Kaif [Katrina Kaif's sister] recently initiated a campaign of Jean-Francois Poulliot directed Dr. Cabbie by visiting multiple schools across the length and breadth of Canada. This was done on behalf of the Government of Canada & Reel Canada organization where the ultimate goal was to not just promote the film but also interact on arts and culture with young students across the country.

Says Jack Blum, President of Reel Canada, "Vinay's personal appearances in high schools across the nation have generally created a sensation. This way, kids are getting a chance to meet Vinay, and Dr. Cabbie - another story that is extremely timely and resonant - is getting well promoted too."

 

Dr. Cabbie has been primarily shot in Canada and narrates the tale of a young doctor [Vinay] from India who finds himself driving a cab in Canada. A light hearted feature, it narrates the tale of this youngster who is barely out of his college and finds innovative ways of treating people in his running car, due to his knowledge of medical science and profession as a cabbie. With a theme like this, it was imperative that Vinay establishes connect with youth, especially students, so as to introduce his film as well as the character.

 

"As a result, Vinay found himself in the middle of a full-fledged program where his itinerary included visiting 20 odd schools across different states in Canada," a close associate of the young actor adds, "He spoke to the youth and discussed issues that affect them. His strength lies in bringing a lot of personal touch to the conversations on various topics, be it race, identity or other social issues. Vinay is enjoying sharing his experiences as a proud Indo-Canadian with the hope that his story can help these school kids."

 

Another added attraction is of course the presence of Isabelle Kaif who has joined Vinay on a few tour stops. With the tour taking place at high schools across the country and Vinay along with Isabelle and other members of Dr. Cabbie team meeting around 15,000 students, there are tidbits already floating around them being mobbed by kids.

 

"All of this in good spirit though," the associate adds, "The reaction to the trailer is very positive with kids and teens are identifying and connecting with the film. It is a good drive towards the release of the film that would take place in September."
