Prakash Jha denies any trouble in release of Aarakshan

The problems for Prakash Jha's Aarakshan, based on the caste-based reservation policy in India, just don't seem to end. First the National Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Commission protested against the film and even issued a notice to Prakash Jha then the Mayawati Government denied the Aarakshan cast to promote their film in Lucknow and now Feroze Nadiadwala, the co-producer of the film is being sued by Sushil Gupta of G.G. Photo for a sum of Rs 3.75 crores.

 

Feroze Nadiadwala has been sued for defaulting on repayment of dues. Reportedly, Feroze had borrowed Rs. 3.50 crore from Sushil Gupta and had to repay him Rs. 3.75 crore including interest on the loan. But the cheques issued by Feroze bounced and Sushil Gupta filed the suit against him in the Madras High Court. Considering his involvement in the movie Aarakshan, the financers had appealed for a stay on its release.

Commenting on this issue, Prakash Jha said, "Prakash Jha Productions is the sole rights-holder of Aarakshan. All rights and authority regarding the business of Aarakshan are vested with Prakash Jha Productions. The cheque-bouncing issue is between Mr. Feroze A. Nadiadwala and Mr. Sushil Gupta. It has nothing to do with Aarakshan. Mr. Nadiadwala is sorting it out. Aarakshan will release worldwide on August 12, as per schedule."

 

Feroze A Nadiadwala futher stated, "As far as Aarakshan is concerned, Prakash Jha Productions has the sole rights to the film, and complete authority to deal with the business of the film. And Prakash Jha Productions has not entered into any agreement with Mr Sushil Gupta of G. G. Photo,"

 

Feroze Nadiadwala is currently resolving the issue with Mr. Sushil Gupta.

 

Aarakshan starring Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpayee, Deepika Padukone and Prateik, is scheduled to release worldwide this Friday.
