When Atul Sabharwal, the debutante director was confronted on this piece of news, he dismissed the rumors and said, "If anything it's similar in treatment to Deewar. Aurangzeb is an ode to Salim saheb and Javed saheb's writings. Its tribute to their cinema." Aurangzeb very interestingly set in land mafia or the upsurge of Gurgaon from a small village on map to India's one of the biggest and fastest growing cities.

Atul has depicted Gurgaon against the backdrop of two families who are at loggerheads with each other. And just like Salim-Javed's work, Aurangzeb has a heady mix of dialogues and action.

Aurangzeb is based on a construction company in Delhi and has two families depicted - one of a Policeman's and another of the Gangster's. The film is about how law has to become a criminal to suppress another criminal.
