Aashiqui 2 moved to 2013

There won't be a romantic ending to 2012 anymore. Aashiqui 2, which was supposed to arrive in December this year, has been pushed further ahead. As of now, there is no definite day of arrival yet and Bhatts are taking it rather easy. That, after the lead pair of the film - Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor - was announced with much fanfare just a few days back.

 

Confirms our source, "Shraddha had declined Yash Raj's Aurangzeb opposite Arjun Kapoor and opted for Aashiqui 2 instead since she found the later more interesting. She immediately allocated her dates for the film as well. However she would now have to wait for much longer to come back on the big screen since Bhatts have different plans for the film."

This was pretty much on the cards though because as per the original plans, the film was supposed to clash with none less than Akshay Kumar's Khiladi 786. While this didn't really make much practical sense, there was more opposition awaited in the form of Dabangg 2 which was arriving a fortnight later. Instead of arriving in a horde, it was decided that the film would be pushed all the way to 2013.

 

"However, there is no rush to announce the new date either since there are many other biggies lined up for January. Valentine's Day could be a good date since Aashiqui' is a romantic musical", the source adds.

 

On contacting, Mahesh Bhatt confirmed that the film has indeed been moved ahead. "I guess four films in a year is good enough. We have our plate full with Blood Money, Jannat 2, Jism 2 and Raaz 3 this year. Aashiqui 2 can wait", he said.

 

Guess that's the message even Shraddha and Aditya got, though one wonders how happy they would be with that.
