I do agree that ‘Delhi 6’ is not one of the finest movies but on the whole it is a good movie. A complete family movie along with a meaningful message. Now these days we are getting too much different
kind of movies like ‘Luck By chance’,’Dev D’ and many more.I can say these days Bollywood is more concentrating on Experimental Cinema.’Delhi 6’ is another experimental kind of movie.This is not a love story or not a social movie but it is a combination of Drama,Emotions,Romance and Social Issues. Director has used all these scenario to express some serious issue like Illetrecy,Politics and Social Integrity. Through ‘Rang De Basanti’ Rakesh OmPrakash Mehra beautifully expressed one serious concern and everyone appreciated that.This time also he tried to expose another concern but everytime we can’t expect same treatment like ‘Rang De Basanti’’.
Plot:
Abhishek Bachchan is a NRI and planning to return India because of her GrandMother’s Wish.His plan was to return back to USA but suddenly in his life he face some drastic situation and due to that he drop the idea of returning back to US.During his journey in India he met with all kind of peoples like Sonam and Her Family,Rishi Kapoor,Delhi Police and Delhi People.
Direction: I will give full credit to Director Rakesh OmPrakash Mehra’ for his wonderful work.Through the eyes on NRI he had shown one of the actual pictures of Delhi, India. He has proved his ability again and this time also he has driven one hard hitting subject smoothly and properly.He covered almost all the scenarios.What I feel there was not mixing in the story because in the movie the way Abhishek is behaving and speaking ,its completely reflecting that he is NRI.No change in his behaviour or body language.I mean to say he perfectly composed the NRI character.
Samething with Sonam,typical Delhites. You can feel the ‘feel of old delhi’.Those old buildings,crowded lane and people.Everything is perfectly balanced and presented.It could be a controversial situation but he drove the second half quietly and perfectly.For this he used ‘Black Monkey’ and if we all remembered this happened in Old Delhi 2-3 Yrs Back.How one black monkey helps to maintain the unity between “Hindu-Muslim “ is a classic work done by him.The best part is Ram Lila,the way he used this concept to resemble with all the situations is remarkable.
Editing and Camera Work:Nice Editing.Camera Work is also excellent.Morning Raga of Delhi and those crowded lanes all are excellent.The best was jumping from one house to another which shows the dense of that area.Best was night scene.From the roof the picturisation of Delhi is awesome.
Actor:
Abhishek Bachchan : Excellent Work. He perfectly manage to prove his NRI character.Throughout the movie story is revolving around him.Sometime his US accent doesn’t seems to impressive but that was demand of the character.
Sonam :She plays a young girl in this movie.Her role is short but sweet.She looks pretty in the movie and she did a good work.Despite the fact that some places she was not impressive but its ok this is her seond movie.
Atul Kulkarni and Pawan Malohtra however has proved himself yet again.Waheeda Rahman and Rishi Kapoor has a short role but effective.
Music : Another Master Piece by A.R.Rahman. The asset of the movie is the songs.Well picturized and plotted songs. The best thing is that none of the songs have long duration. In first half continuous interval there is song but they are short and audible. All the songs suits to situation and helps to drive the movie.
A film that respects all aspects of Indian life with a valuable message.
I feel like Climax could have more better and some of the characters like Rishi Kapoor,Prem Chopra should have more scope in the movie.
My rating is 3.5/5.We all should watch atleast for 1 time.
