Varun Dhawan opened up about fatherhood and life with his daughter Lara during the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 9. The actor shared how his daily routine has changed since becoming a father and revealed that he and his two-year-old daughter already have their share of disagreements, particularly over music.
During the conversation with host Karan Johar, Varun spoke about the joy of watching Lara grow up. He explained, “A lot has changed. Earlier, I would have a lot of time to myself in the morning. Now, when I wake up, my two-year-old is running around, jumping and trying to go down a slide the wrong way. Natasha and I are almost like fielders.”
Varun added that watching his daughter experience the world brings him immense happiness. “It's a lot of fun. Just seeing the joy and purity in a child brings a lot of joy to your heart,” the actor shared.

The conversation took a playful turn when Varun praised Ranbir Kapoor for being a great father to his daughter, Raha Kapoor. Janhvi Kapoor then pointed out that Varun was also a good father, prompting him to agree while revealing that he and Lara often disagree over their music choices.
“I'm damn good. But Lara and I get into a lot of fights, I feel,” Varun said.
Karan Johar was surprised by the revelation, considering Lara is only two years old, and asked what the father-daughter duo could argue about. Varun explained that their disagreements usually revolve around music, revealing that Lara is currently obsessed with Michael Jackson.
When Janhvi asked whether he did not want to listen to the singer, Varun clarified that he wanted some variety beyond one particular track. “I want to listen to another song besides ‘Beat It’. She wants to hear ‘Beat It’ like 68 times,” he said.
Karan suggested that Varun should let his daughter enjoy the music she likes. However, the actor had another argument ready, joking that he wanted Lara to understand that Michael Jackson's career was bigger than just “Beat It”.
Varun Dhawan married fashion designer Natasha Dalal in 2021. The couple welcomed their daughter, Lara, on June 3, 2024. Since becoming a father, Varun has occasionally spoken about how parenthood has changed his everyday life, from his morning routine to the little moments he shares with his daughter.
