The Nitesh Tiwari directed film Dangal which featured Aamir Khan playing a role based on the real life wrestler and coach Mahavir Singh Phogat has been on a literal record setting spree. After establishing new benchmarks within the domestic market the film that released in China a few weeks ago has been doing the same there as well. In fact, the film that has been doing stellar business in China has managed to bolster its global box office earnings massively.
Till last week Dangal that had managed to collect a massive Rs. 1844 cr at the worldwide box office, however since the film continued its run at the Chinese box office, reports state that it has now blown pas the Rs. 1900 cr mark. Collecting a staggering Rs. 1902 cr Dangal has managed to achieve this feat with Rs. 716 cr coming in from the worldwide market (excluding China Taiwan), Rs. 1154 cr coming in from the Chinese box office, Rs. 32.34 cr from the Taiwan box office.
With this Dangal has now become the first Indian film to achieve this benchmark of collecting well over Rs. 1902 cr at the global box office. But if that wasn’t enough, since Dangal is expected to continue its run in China over the coming week, a target of Rs. 2000 cr does not seem to distant.
