Netflix today released Modern Masters: S S Rajamouli, a 73-minute-long documentary on one of the greatest filmmakers of not just India but the world. Directed by Raghav Khanna and co-directed by Tanvi Ajinkya, it comprises bytes of S S Rajamouli as well as that of his actors, family members, etc. talking about his life, habits, films, etc. In the beginning, Rajamouli’s wife Rama Rajamouli opened up about how they both got hitched.

Rama Rajamouli, who’s also a costume designer, said, “I met him during my sister's wedding. There was nothing striking about him as far as I remember. He's my brother-in-law's brother. That's how we know each other. It was not a very romantic thing. We both were mature adults by the time we got into a relationship. But when we proposed, I was actually not ready.”

Rama soon said the reason for it saying, “I was a divorcee. I had a son by then and hence, I thought it even meaningless to come up with this thought.” However, S S Rajamouli was persistent. Rama Rajamouli then revealed that a year later, she agreed to be his wife.

That S S Rajamouli loves his wife dearly is proved by Prabhas in the documentary by narrating a fascinating anecdote. Prabhas said, “One day, he went to his home late after a night shoot. He knocked on the door by mistake or it got locked or something. And his wife was inside. Since he didn't want to disturb his wife, he slept outside the door the whole night and came back to shoot! Rama told me, 'He didn't wake me up!'. I was like, 'Raj, are you mad?'!”

Rama Rajamouli’s son from her first marriage, S S Karthikeya, confessed, “I knew him before he actually became my father, as an uncle. He used to take us on bike rides.”

Prabhas also said that he loves the family of S S Rajamouli and their simplicity. He said, “Rajamouli has a small flat. It has just three bedrooms. There are like 30 people always in his small flat - his cousins, his cousins' kids. It’s beautiful (smiles).”
