Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu has become the latest celebrity to test positive for COVID-19. The actor on Thursday took to his Twitter handle to share that he has tested positive with mild symptoms. The actor has isolated himself at home.

Mahesh Babu took to Twitter and wrote, "Despite taking all the necessary precautions, I've tested positive for COVID-19 with mild symptoms. I've isolated myself at home and have been following medical guidance."

"Request all those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested. I urge everyone who's not taken their vaccination to do so immediately, as it reduces the risk of severe symptoms and hospitalisation. Please follow the COVID norms and stay safe," he added.

Earlier, Mahesh Babu's sister-in-law and actress Shilpa Shirodkar had also tested positive for the virus. She lives in Dubai with her family.

Meanwhile, India is seeing a massive surge in COVID-19 cases with the trends indicating a third wave of the pandemic in the country. On Wednesday, India registered a total of 90,000 positive cases. With an alarming rise in the cases, several state governments have announced strict restrictions and implemented partial lockdown.
