Madhoo and Ajay Devgan made their debut in Phool Aur Kaante (1991). The raw Devgan managed to make a mark in action films early in his career but Madhoo could not see her Bollywood calling so she went down south and did a few good films out there. One of her most memorable films has to be Mani Ratnam's Tamil movie Roja (1992) where she essayed the title role alongside south star Arvind Swami. After that she did a number of films in Bollywood but nothing really noteworthy.
After a hiatus she signed on a film Kabhi Socha Bhi Na Tha in 2003, a bold film based on live-in relationships. But the director Kallol Sen renamed the film Love, Sex, Etc. and Madhoo did not approve of this. She also felt that the film turned out to be sleazy and not has she had visualized when the film was conceptualized. So she disassociated herself from the film. She has one more film on hand Kachchi Sadak. Will this be the film her career has been waiting for?
Trivia:
- She did a cameo in Harry Baweja's Diljale starring Ajay Devgan (1996).
- She is married to industrialist Anand Shah.
Sushmita Sen, Mukul Dev and Sharad Kapoor Bhatts are known for introducing new talents in the industry. Their film
Dastak (1996) not just marked the debut of one or two but three new faces - Ex-Miss Universe Sushmita Sen, Mukul Dev and Sharad Kapoor. Sushmita's acting prowess and beauty made her get many films though most of them fared badly at the box- office. However, her signing spree has not died down.
Mukul Dev played lead roles in most of his other films but none of them did well. Despite working with Madhuri Dixit (
Wajood in 1998), Dilip Kumar (Qila in 1998), with Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah (
Guru Mahaguru in 2002) and Fardeen-Feroz Khan (
Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena in 2005), his career went into hibernation. Now he's moved towards television and is hosting the Indian version of the game show
Fear Factor. Sharad Kapoor did a few leads in bad films and was then relegated to the back-seat in big films like Hathyar (2002),
Jaani Dushman (2002),
LOC Kargil (2003) and
Lakshya (2004). His only notable performances include Josh (2000) and
Lal Salaam (2002).
Trivia: - Mukul Dev acted in Anup Jalota's music video Suraj Ki Garmi.
- Sharad Kapoor debuted on television with Swabhimaan.
