"Manoj is always motivated on and off the sets and is always into his character" Manoj Bajpayee and I used to work in such a comfortable space that as an outsider if you'd see us on sets, we would look as if we were married. Manoj helped me so much on and off the sets. He wasn't the one who sits in the van all day. He gave me all my cue's on time. He is always motivated, keeps it real and look at his journey and accomplishment. He is always into his character. He deserves it all. Manoj is a very good human being.
"2012 is going to be the year of Nawazuddin" I've known Nawazuddin since 2009 and we auditioned for Miss Lovely back then. Finally we are getting a chance to work together in Gangs Of Wasseypur. The world would've woken up to Nawazuddin now but I've woken up to him since 2009. He is so quiet as a person but the fire in his eyes will burn the screen. He has a line up of ten movies in 2012/2013. His journey is remarkable. A small town guy to come this far is phenomenal. His two films are showcased in Cannes Film Festival this year. Can you believe it? Miss Lovely and Gangs Of Wasseypur.
When I finished transcribing Part 1 of Richa's interview, I had no clue I'd meet the temptress on the same day in the evening. We are sitting in a sterile white corner of the Novotel Hotel. The actress is draped in a beautiful red knee-length sleeveless dress, her lips full, her hair loose and her confidence sparkling. She's warm and frank and often glances at the table next to us where a couple is busy doing their gup-shup, and then informs me, "You know I like staring at people. I grasp a lot of weirdness that's going around. I observe them a lot". Moving on, I understood she's my type - expressive and eccentric at times. She's warm and frank and happy to talk to her female co-actors at any given point in time. Yes, it's true. In front of me she spoke to Tannishtha Chatterjee. She is her big fan. Chadda is like your true friend. She'll never pretend or presume and speaks her heart and mind whenever an opportunity exists. In fact, she's so refreshingly comfortable in her skin that when asked what she would change about her looks if she could, she doesn't 'umm' and 'ahh' about it. She goes something like this, "Why, you don't like me like this kya?" Darling, we love you the way you are! Part 2 of my exclusive chat continues with Richa Chadda.
"You will see Anurag Kashyap on sets with his i-pad playing scrabble all day" You will see Anurag Kashyap on sets with his i-pad playing scrabble all day. Then someone will say 'roll camera' and Anurag will get up from a trance and say 'action' (laughs). He is so much glued in whatever he does. He has become that alternate camp in this industry along with the mainstream cinema. He is very involved as a director. I was in school when I first saw Anurag's short film called Last Train To Mahakali on the television and I became a big fan of his work since then. I had never seen anything like this before. Anurag was always a part of my memory post his short film. Today it's an honour working on Gangs Of Wasseypur.

"I was honoured that someone from foreign land was so touched with my performance" There was a lady who was sitting next to me during the screening of Gangs Of Wasseypur in Cannes. Her name was Maggie Smith. On the other side of her was Nawazuddin. She saw the entire film with us and also started to cry a bit in one of the scenes. There was an intermission between Part one and Part two of the movie and we went in the lobby. Out there she passed me and completely ignored me. I thought she was being rude but only to find out that she went and met the E.P. of the film to find out about the actress of Gangs Of Wasseypur. I was honoured that someone from foreign land was so touched with my performance. She also didn't recognise me though she was sitting right next to me and watching the film. As they say - Ignorance is Bliss.
"Gangs Of Wasseypur is not a dark film. It's real, it's universal, and it's massy" Gangs Of Wasseypur isn't a dark film. It's real because it's based on a real story. The people in the film weren't dark, they were idiots. The vengeance started with their stupidity. I saw my own film at Cannes properly and without being biased, let me tell you, it's a very universal film. It's a family drama. Sholay was not about romance, it was about revenge. It's a cult film. I don't think violence stops people from watching cinema.
