It was also a proud moment for young child actor Harsh Mayar who won the 'Best Child Artist' award for his splendid portrayal in the heart-warming film I Am Kalam. Harsh was all smiles as he collected his award from President Pratibha Patil.
The award ceremony was hosted by actors Rajat Kapoor and Mahie Gill.
Another Bollywood film apart from Dabangg which took away the honours on the big night was Ishqiya.
While Vishal Bhardwaj won the 'Best Music Direction' award for Ishqiya, wife Rekha Bhardwaj walked away with the 'National Award for Best Female Playback Singer' for the same film.
Arbaaz was but obviously over the moon receiving the award from President Pratibha Patil and happily tweeted, "What a day ! What a moment ! What a year ! Dabangg ho :)"
The duo received the Swarna Kamal and a cash prize of Rs.2,00,000. Besides Arbaaz and Malaika, Dabangg director Abhinav Kashyap too was present at the grand ceremony.
