Nana Patekar opens up about not doing Welcome To The Jungle; says, “Unko lagta hai hum purane ho gaye”

Nana Patekar recently responded to a reporter asking about his absence in the third installment of the comedy entertainer Welcome.

We all know about the kind of love Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor received for their portrayal of gangsters in the Welcome series. Their much beloved Uday and Majnu, however, will not be a part of the upcoming third instalment of the film, which is titled Welcome To The Jungle. The film is expected to feature a completely different cast including Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Raveena Tandon, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, among others. Recently at the trailer launch of The Vaccine War, Nana Patekar opened up about not doing the film and maintained that they possibly did not bag the role because they were considered to be old.

In the video, when a reporter present at the trailer launch asked Nana Patekar about the announcement of Welcome To The Jungle, the actor firmly maintained that he is not a part of the film. The reporter went on to ask the reason behind his absence when Nana responded saying, "Unko lagta hai hum purane ho gaye hain. Isiliye shayad unhone nahi liya. Inko (The Vaccine War makers) lagta hai abhi hum purane nahi hue hain, isiliye inhone le liya. Simple hai (They feel we are old. May be that’s why they didn’t consider us for the film. It’s simple actually).”

He further went on to add how age is not a bar in this industry if you really wish to work and that if you accept work with open arms, you will never be jobless. "Agar aap achha kaam karna chahte ho toh aapke liye industry kabhi bandh nahi hoti. Log aayenge, aap ko poochenge. Aap ko yeh jaan na hai ki aap woh karna chahte hain ya nahin (If you really work on good projects, the industry will always have its doors open for you. People will come and ask you about projects. The question is whether you want to do it or no).”

He continued, “Main samjhta hoon yeh mera pehla chance hai aur aakhri chance hai. Utni hi jaan daalni chahiye usmein. Har ek ko kaam milta hai bas aap karna chahte hai ya nahi uspe nirbhar hai (I work in a way where I feel this is my first and last chance. I pour my heart into it. Everyone can find work here but whether you want to do it or no, is upon you)."

Welcome To The Jungle was announced earlier this month with much fanfare and is expected to reunite Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon on the big screen after decades. Furthermore, the film also has a massive star cast, which also includes Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Mika Singh, Rahul Dev, Mukesh Tiwari, Sharib Hashmi, Lara Dutta, among others.
