Manoj Bajpayee, Adah Sharma, Madhoo, Vipul Amrutlal Shah, Chinmay Mandlekar and Aashin Shah attended the trailer launch of their film Governor in Mumbai. The film releases on June 12 and thus it would clash with Imtiaz Ali’s Diljit Dosanjh-Sharvari-Vedang Raina starrer Main Vaapas Aaunga, Kangana Ranaut’s 26/11 thriller Bharat Bhhagya Vidhaata and Vikram Bhatt’s Mimoh Chakraborty starrer 3D horror film, Haunted – Echoes Of The Past. Not to forget that the Varun Dhawan-Mrunal Thakur-Pooja Hegde comic caper Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Bobby Deol’s Bandar and Ram Charan-Janhvi Kapoor’s Pan-India film, Peddi, will release a week before. It's common nowadays to see fights happening over screens. At Governor’s trailer launch, this writer asked Vipul Amrutlal Shah whether he fears having to get into the ‘maara-maari’ of securing screens for his labour of love.
Vipul Amrutlal Shah said, “Main boxing gloves pehen ke baitha hoon! Hence, I am not worried. They are all my friends who have made those films. I wish every film very, very well. At the end of the day, if your film has to appeal to the audience, it will find its way. That is what we feel and we believe in the film that we have made. I am sure the other films are also good, on every Friday, and not just on the day that we are bringing Governor.”
Vipul Amrutlal Shah continued, “Theek hai, the audience will have multiple films to choose from. That’s great from the audience's point of view. Also, it’s a great time for Indian cinema. We are back to having 3-4 films releasing on the same Friday. Let the best film do the best business, and I hope everyone is successful.”
Vipul also spoke about his next, Samuk, starring Akshay Kumar, “We are bringing a new genre to Indian cinema. We have not had an alien-predator film. This film will be directed by Kanishk Verma and comprises some of the best Hollywood technicians. It's a big action film that we are mounting. Hence, we are very excited about it.”
Governor releases in cinemas on June 12.
