Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan joined Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez, Pope Francis, and US President Joe Biden among others in Global Citizen's VAX LIVE: The Concert To Reunite The World concert. It aimed to call on businesses to donate dollars for doses, G7 governments to share excess doses immediately, and for pharma companies including Moderna to make vaccines available at not-for-profit prices. It was also aimed at inspiring people around the world to take vaccines.

Hosted by Selena Gomez with performances by Jennifer Lopez, Eddie Vedder, Foo Fighters, J Balvin, & H.E.R., VAX LIVE was taped before an audience of vaccinated frontline healthcare & essential workers at SoFi Stadium and aired on May 8 (Sunday, May 9 for India). Prince Harry And Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, were announced as Campaign Chairs Of Global Citizen’s Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World. US President Joe Biden, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, and Vice President Kamala Harris made an appearance to increase public confidence in and uptake of Covid-19 Vaccines.

Line-up also included Ben Affleck, Chrissy Teigen, David Letterman, Gayle King, Jimmy Kimmel, Nomzamo Mbatha, Olivia Munn, & Sean Penn. Additional featured appearances from President Emmanuel Macron of France, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada, and Prime Minister Plenković of Croatia.

Amitabh Bachchan sent his video from India and emphasized the importance of vaccines. "Namaskar, this is Amitabh Bachchan. My country India is battling with the sudden surge of the second wave of Covid 19. As a global citizen, I appeal to all global citizens to rise up, speak to your governments, pharmaceutical companies and ask them to donate, to give, to extend a helping hand, to the public that needs it the most. Every effort counts. As Mahatma Gandhiji said: 'In a gentle way you can shake the world'. thank you," he said in the video.
