FAST FIVE took a strong lead as it embarked on a 70% opening, on an average, across India on Friday. The plexes as well as single screens responded very well to the film and that helped this film overpower its Hindi competitors from the very first show onwards … HAUNTED, released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions, opened very well in 3D, garnering 60% to 70% start, while 2D opened to 30% occupancy. Released extensively -- approx. 1044 sites [all three versions combined] -- the combined occupancy of HAUNTED was in 45% to 55% range. Reliance Entertainment is hopeful that the Friday numbers will be impressive, despite the fact that it stars new faces... LUV KA THE END, surprisingly, didn't embark on a strong start. A month ago, F.A.L.T.U. had opened to packed houses and LUV KA THE END was expected to follow in its footsteps, at least at big city plexes. But the morning and noon shows were in 10% to 20% range. Let's hope the youth takes it further from Friday evening onwards.
