Jailer producer gifts Rs 100 crores from film’s profits to Rajinikanth along with BMW X7 worth Rs. 1.20 cr

Rajinikanth has just delivered one of the biggest hits of his career. At last count Jailer has earned worldwide profits of Rs. 340 crores at the Indian box office. The film’s producer Kalinithi Maran of Sun Pictures, as a token appreciation, was seen handing over a cheque of Rs. 100 crores to Rajinikanth as his (rightful) share from the profits. This is above Rajini's basic remuneration which was close to Rs. 80 crores.

A source from Chennai revealed, "There is nothing unusual in that gesture. Many producers have come back to Rajini Sir with parts of the profit after his films have smashed records." In fact, along with the profit sharing, there is another video doing the rounds wherein the producer Kalanithi Maran is seen gifting a plush BMW X7 car which approximately starts at a whopping Rs. 1.20 crores to the megastar as a special gift for his contribution to the film. From what we hear, Rajinikanth was presented with the BMW i7 and BMW x7 models and it was the megastar who decided to choose the latter.

 

Speaking of Jailer, the film directed by Nelson Dilipkumar is an action entertainer. Releasing on August 11 alongside Bollywood films like Gadar 2 and OMG 2, the film managed to create a massive uproar at the box office with the film earning over Rs. 500 crores at the global box office. Besides Rajinikanth, the film also boasted of an ensemble cast which included Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar along with Jackie Shroff, Mohanlal, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia, among others in pivotal roles.
