Saif Ali Khan passes down family cricket legacy to son Taimur Ali Khan in London, watch

Saif Ali Khan may not have chosen to be a cricketer like his late father and grandparents, but he is doing everything he can to pass down his family's cricket heritage and legacy to his son Taimur Khan. In Instagram videos, Saif is seen describing their family's cricket history to Taimur, who plays the sport at a London club.

Taimur is shown hitting within a net in one of the videos. He is dressed in a white T-shirt with a blue stripe, matching track trousers and athletic shoes. Meanwhile, Saif adopts a less sporting persona. He's dressed in a grey corduroy suit, black sleeveless jacket, and brown shoes. He also has a little ponytail. In another video, Saif explains to Taimur the notion of cricket 'counties'. When Taimur asks a question, Saif responds: "Counties are like clubs. Similar to Sussex and Worcestershire. Your great grandfather represented Worcestershire. "Your grandfather commanded Sussex." Saif Ali Khan's cricketing lineage traces back to his grandfather, Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, who was not only a prominent cricketer but also the eighth Nawab of Pataudi. Iftikhar, who played for both England and India, captained the latter in the pre-Independence era. His contribution to Indian cricket was significant, as he played a pivotal role in shaping the early years of the sport in the country.

 

Saif's father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, often referred to as Tiger Pataudi, was a legendary figure in Indian cricket. He inherited the title of Nawab of Pataudi at the young age of 11 after the untimely demise of his father. Despite losing sight in one eye due to an accident, Mansoor Pataudi went on to become one of India's finest cricket captains. Known for his leadership skills and cricketing acumen, he led the Indian team during the 1960s and early 1970s, earning respect and admiration both on and off the field.
