Ranbir Kapoor confesses Bombay Velvet wasn't a good film; says, “deserved its fate”

Though Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor enjoys a massive fan following, he has multiple flop films in his repertoire. While speaking of the same, the actor candidly discussed the “fate” of his 2015 release Bombay Velvet and confessed that it “wasn't a good film”.

It all happened at the Red Sea International Film Festival. For the unversed, the actor flew to Jeddah and attended the closing ceremony of the event. During the interview, Ranbir openly talked about his films over the years, and how some of them did not perform well at the box office. He called his film Bombay Velvet a 'big disaster of Indian cinema'. When a fan interrupted and said that it was because of Karan Johar (who played the antagonist), Ranbir laughed and replied by saying that it would be unfair to pin it down on the producer-director.

 

As per a video, shared on Brut India’s official social media page, Ranbir asserted, "While working on the film I thought like, 'Wow, this is amazing,' you know. Like, Anurag Kashyap was directing. We had a great set of actors, you know. See, once you start a film you lose perspective because you surrender to the process. You surrender to the filmmaking, you surrender to the character...So Bombay Velvet was something which…it deserved the fate that it had because it wasn't a good film."

 

The Bollywood actor also talked about Jagga Jasoos and said that it was “the only film of his career whose failure hurt him” because that was a passion project for him.

 

Coming to the professional front, the 40-year-old actor was last seen in Brahmastra, which was released on September 9 this year. The Ayan Mukerji directorial made several records at the box office and went on to become one of the highest grossers of this year.

 

He is currently making headlines for Luv Ranjan’s next. The makers recently dropped the first poster of the upcoming film along with the initials of its title.
