Rakesh Bedi speculates on extortion angle in Tiger Shroff firing incident, urges government to act
Actor Rakesh Bedi has expressed shock over the firing incident involving Tiger Shroff in Mumbai and called on the authorities to take steps to ensure the safety of people in the film industry. The Dhurandhar actor also speculated that extortion could be a possible motive behind the attack, while stressing that the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
Speaking to Times Now, Rakesh said the incident was particularly shocking because he knew Tiger’s father, Jackie Shroff, personally and had worked with him. “Jackie is an old friend of mine, and we have worked together. He is a very non-controversial, happy go lucky person and so is his son. So, this is very shocking for the film industry because that man has not been involved in anything as such. So I don't know if there's anything that is not visible to the eye. I do not know what Tiger’s connection was or whether he was going to work with Salman Khan in a film. I have no idea at all,” he said.
Rakesh Bedi speculates on possible motive behind the attack
During the interview, Rakesh suggested that money could be a factor behind the firing, although he did not present it as a confirmed motive. He said the incident could potentially involve extortion but also raised the possibility that ideological differences might have played a role.
The actor noted that some individuals could target people they believe do not share their views. However, the motive behind the attack has not been officially established, and the police investigation is ongoing.
Rakesh Bedi calls for action to restore confidence in the film industry
Rakesh emphasised that the firing incident should be treated as a serious law-and-order concern, particularly because it involved actual gunfire rather than verbal threats. He urged, “This is a very serious matter. These are not merely verbal threats, where someone comes and says they will kill you or do something to you and then walks away. Shots have been fired and such incidents have happened before. The police, the government, and the relevant agencies must look into this and determine what can be done to maintain confidence in the film industry and maintain law and order in the city.”
