Hrithik Roshan pens heartfelt note for son Hrehaan's 20th birthday: “The adult steers the boat, but the child is the captain”

Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan and his ex-wife Sussanne Khan came together to celebrate a milestone occasion as their elder son, Hrehaan Roshan, turned 20 on Saturday. The celebrations offered fans a warm and candid glimpse into the family's close-knit bond.

Hrithik took to his social media handle to share a deeply personal and thoughtful birthday message for his son, whom he affectionately calls "Ray." In the note, the actor reflected on the true meaning of growing up, offering his son a philosophy centered not on ambition alone, but on protecting the joy of childhood.

 

"As you so eagerly step into adulthood, here's a gentle reminder of why it's so important to be an adult," Hrithik wrote, going on to describe the ideal grown-up as someone "responsible enough, steady enough, wise enough" to create space for "unbridled laughter" and "pure joy."

 

The note concluded with a poetic flourish, drawing on Walt Whitman's famous lines: "The adult steers the boat. But the child is the captain. 'O captain, my captain.' Happy 20th birthday Ray, my son."

 

 

 

Alongside his heartfelt message, Hrithik shared a series of videos capturing his time with his sons. One clip featured the trio enjoying a swim together, filmed from a full 360-degree perspective. Other glimpses included a boys' night out and a breezy car ride, painting a picture of a birthday weekend filled with laughter and togetherness.

 

The highlight, however, was a fun recreation of the iconic step from the beloved 2011 film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, adding a nostalgic and lighthearted touch to the festivities.
