Current Laga Re song launch: Rohit Shetty shares EXCITING details about Cirkus-Golmaal crossover

The trailer of Cirkus was released last week and it gave a surprise double treat to the audiences. The viewers expected some fun and laughter featuring Ranveer Singh, Varun Sharma and the rest of the cast. The audience got that but they were also presented with a glimpse of the song ‘Current Laga Re’, featuring Deepika Padukone. And if that wasn’t enough, director Rohit Shetty added one more interesting plot point. The characters of Golmaal Again (2017) can be seen in the trailer in their child avatars. Since Cirkus is set in the 60s, the internet is buzzing with theories over the Golmaal-Cirkus crossover and how Rohit got the two stories together.

At the launch of the song ‘Current Laga Re’, Rohit Shetty was asked whether one can call Cirkus a prequel to Golmaal. Rohit Shetty began thinking, wondering what to answer. Ranveer Singh, at this point, jumped in and said, “Mat bolo sir. Mat bolo. Logon ko discover karne do film mein.” Rohit non-verbally gestured that he agrees with Ranveer. He added, “Jo samaj na hai samaj lo.”

 

Rohit Shetty was then asked if Ajay Devgn, the lead actor in Golmaal, would also be seen in Cirkus. Rohit replied in the negative and said, “Ajay sir nahin hai. Unka bachpan hai.”

 

Rohit Shetty then confessed, “It’s kind of prequel. In the cop universe, Shivgarh is an iconic location. Similarly, here it’s Jamnadas Orphanage. Aur wahin se (Ranveer Singh ka character) bhi nikla hai, jahan se (Golmaal characters) nikle the. So that’s the connection. Jab Golmaal ki fifth part banegi, tab aage ki kahaani bataunga.”

 

Golmaal Again (2017) featured Ajay Devgn as Ajay Devgn as Gopal, Arshad Warsi as Madhav, Tusshar as Lucky and Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu as Laxman. They were orphans, who were raised in Jamnadas Orphanage and the story begins with what happens when they reunite after Jamnadas passes away.

 

As for Cirkus, the film releases on December 23, 2022.
