Showcasing his intense side, Chhaava featured Vicky Kaushal in a never-seen-before avatar of a Maratha warrior king. But it is a known fact that the actor invested a lot of hard work in order to bring this historical movie to life. While appreciation and love is being showered on the film, production house Maddock Films decided to share a glimpse of the actor’s journey as he transformed from Vicky to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

The video showcases Vicky Kaushal talking about the extensive physical prep and weapon training he had to undergo to perform combat and war sequences. "There was rigorous training for horse riding. There was weapon training, be it with a sword or laathi (stick), and action training. Each day, it was 6–8 hours of training," he said in the clip shared by Maddock Films in a joint post with the actor. Furthermore the video also shared some glimpses of him crafting his body to essay the role with conviction. Talking about the film’s director Laxman Utekar and producer Dinesh Vijan reacted when he completed the transformation, Vicky was seen sharing, “One thing was certain—I had to bulk up a lot and gain muscle mass. Laxman (Utekar) sir called Dinu sir (Dinesh Vijan) and said he had found his Chhaava”.

Speaking about the film, based on the novel written by Shivaji Sawant, it features Rashmika Mandanna as Maratha queen Yesubai, Akshaye Khanna as Mughal Emperor Aurangazeb, along with an ensemble cast essaying key roles. Set in the 17th Century, it showcases the bravery and courage of Chhatrapati Sambhaji, son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who takes forward the fight of his father for Swarajya. Produced under the banner of Maddock Films, the film released in February 14.
