Bhooth Bangla trailer launch: Priyadarshan on what has changed in Akshay Kumar, Tabu since Hera Pheri: "Their hair has reduced!"; Akshay reveals lesser-known fact: "38 years ago, I used to pick up Tabu and attend dance class"

Akshay Kumar, Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Mithila Palkar, Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal, Rajesh Sharma, director Priyadarshan and producer Ekta Kapoor attended the launch of their film Bhooth Bangla. The event was a rocking one, thanks to the antics of Akshay Kumar. The film reunites Akshay and Tabu after 26 years; both last worked together on Hera Pheri (2000), which was also directed by Priyadarshan. The trio spoke about it and raised laughs.

When asked why she took so long to work with Akshay Kumar, Tabu replied, “He had become a ghost and disappeared from my life!” Akshay looked at her and replied, “And do you think they'll believe you? (smiles)?”

 

Akshay Kumar answered, “We were not getting the correct film and for both of us, this was that film. Yeh (Tabu) apni jagah busy the, main apni jagah busy tha aur Priyan sir toh kahin aur busy the! But finally, we got the chance to come together.”

 

Priyadarshan was asked if he had noticed any change in Akshay Kumar and Tabu. He said, “As far as I am concerned, there's no change. I have been working with both of them for a long time. The way they were before, that's how they are even now. Hence, I didn't feel any difference. Their hair has reduced here and there!” As expected, the last sentence created a frenzy at the venue.

Tabu answered, “Even now, he (Akshay) wakes up at 4 am and asks you to jog at 5 am. Even now, he tells you, 'Yeh mat kha, woh mat kha'. That has not changed. As for Priyan sir, he has not changed too. He has tolerated me for 8 movies! It's a record (laughs).”

 

Looking at Paresh Rawal, she replied, “I have done two very cherished films with Paresh ji – Hera Pheri and Cheeni Kum (2007). Waqt toh badalta rehta hai, but I don't think hum itna badle hai.”

 

Akshay Kumar then revealed, “I want to share something about Tabu. I have been working in this industry for 35 years. However, I have known Tabu for 38-39 years. We used to go for dance practice together.”

 

Tabu added, “He used to pick me up on the bike.” Akshay continued, “Hum dono jaaya karte the dance seekhne.” Akshay was then interrupted as Ekta made an entry on the stage.

 

Bhooth Bangla releases in cinemas on April 17 and will have paid previews from 9:00 pm on April 16.
