The Indian advertising industry lost one of its greatest minds as veteran adman Piyush Pandey passed away at the age of 70. Known for his groundbreaking campaigns for Cadbury, Fevicol, and Asian Paints, Pandey’s legacy spans over four decades and has left an indelible mark on the art of storytelling in advertising.

Among the many tributes pouring in, megastar Amitabh Bachchan penned an emotional note on his blog, mourning the loss of his longtime collaborator and friend. The two had worked together on several iconic campaigns, including those for the polio vaccine, Gujarat Tourism, and Cadbury.

 

In his heartfelt post, Bachchan wrote, “A creative genius… a most amiable friend, and guide… has left us… No words to express our grief… Piyush Pandey passed away this morning… The creative works left behind by him shall ever be an eternal emblem of his immeasurable creativity.”

 

Through his words, Bachchan not only expressed his sorrow but also celebrated the enduring brilliance of Pandey’s creative legacy, which continues to influence generations of advertisers and artists alike.

 

Earlier in the day, Shah Rukh Khan also expressed his grief on social media. “Working and being around Piyush Pandey always felt effortless and fun. Was an honour being part of the pure magic he created. He carried his genius so lightly and revolutionised the ad industry in India. Rest in Peace my friend. Will miss you lots,” he wrote.
