Akshay Kumar has kept his side of the promise for Nargis Fakhri. By agreeing to work on Shaukeen remake with her, he has ensured that after a missed opportunity in Khiladi 786, Nargis would finally have him as her on-screen partner.

"She was almost finalized for Khiladi 786 but then due to some unforeseen developments, it was Asin who ended up doing the film instead. Of course Nargis was heartbroken that she couldn't do the film. Other than the fact that this could well have been her second release after Rockstar, she also nursed an ambition of having Akshay in her resume," informs an insider.

 

Though things didn't work out then, Akshay promised the newbie that their pairing would be happening soon. While for his other major films, he has Sonakshi Sinha and Tamannaah for company, it was Nargis who was the chosen one for Shaukeen remake.

 

"Though Akshay has just 4-5 days of work in the Rumi Jaffrey film, Nargis is there from start to finish. While for her it is a major role, she also benefits from the fact that Akshay plays her boyfriend. Call it a special appearance, extended guest appearance or a short, but pivotal role - the fact remains that Akshay's presence is only going to help Nargis immensely," says a trade source, "So what if Khiladi 786 didn't happen, she should just capitalize on this opportunity and be happy with the fact that she has a top superstar for company in a major film like this where she is the centre of attraction."

 

For a man who is known to be straight forward in his dealing with colleagues and never forgets to keep his word, this has only turned out to be another addition to Akshay's promises that have been honoured. Now one looks forward to Nargis coming up with a convincing enough act and make audience look beyond the feedback that had gone her way post Rockstar.
