Ajay Devgn talks about stars promoting pan masala brands- “If certain things are so wrong, then they should not be sold”

Ajay Devgn is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Runway 34. Apart from playing one of the leads in the film, Ajay has also directed the film co-starring Rakul Preet Singh and Amitabh Bachchan. Recently, while addressing the media during the promotions of the film he was asked about actors facing criticism for the products they choose to endorse.

Akshay Kumar recently faced criticism for endorsing a pan masala brand. The brand is also being promoted by Ajay Devgn and Sha Rukh Khan. A recent ad had the three stars appear together. The ad promotes the brand as an ad for elaichi, as it falls under surrogate advertising. Products such as cigarettes and tobacco are always promoted in the disguise of another product as the government does not allow the direct promotion of such products.

 

Talking about promoting such brands, Ajay said, “It is a personal choice,” adding, “When you do something, you also see how harmful it would be. Some things are harmful, some are not. I would say it without naming it because I don’t want to promote it; I was doing elaichi. What I feel is more than advertisements, if certain things are so wrong, then they should not be sold.”

 

Meanwhile, Ajay’s Runway 34 will be released in theatres on April 29.
