Adivi Sesh on using 'Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast' in Dacoit, "It's part of my childhood. Dancing to this song made me feel special"

Adivi Sesh’s forthcoming action adventure Dacoit has a surprise each for Hindi and Telugu audiences: one chartbuster each from 1994, one from a Nagarjuna starrer and the other from an Akshay Kumar film.

Explaining the inclusion of these two musical tributes Adivi Sesh said, “The two songs used, ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast’ for Hindi from the film Mohra and ‘Kannepettaro’ from Telugu from the film Hello Brother, are very, very personal to me because they are the first songs I ever danced to on stage, especially ‘Tu Cheez Badi Mast Mast’. So, it's part of my childhood. It's the first time I remember in my earliest memories having no stage fear. Dancing to this song made me feel special.”

 

Apparently the Mohra producer Rajiv Rai was paid a small fortune (close to Rs. 35-40 lakhs) for the rights to the song.

 

Said Rajiv Rai, “I am not disclosing the amount on record. But yes, it is all legitimate and legal. The Dacait team has taken the rights from us to use my song.”
