Abhishek Bachchan recalls Mani Ratnam showing confidence in him after Yuva; says, “I was jumping with excitement”

Abhishek Bachchan is all set to complete 25 years in the film industry as an actor this year. His debut film Refugee, which was directed by JP Dutta and it also launched Kareena Kapoor Khan, is all set to complete a quarter of a century in June this year.

The actor has proved his mettle plenty of times over the two-and-a-half decades of his career so far. Shroojit Sircar being the latest with I Want To Talk for which AB is getting a lot of critical acclaim.

 

In fact, Abhishek is a favourite of top directors and production house, all because of his talent and what he brings to the table. He keeps getting repeated by directors and major names among them is the legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam and the prolific Ram Gopal Varma. Ratnam and Abhishek have collaborated on a number of acclaimed films like Yuva, Guru and Raavan. With Varma too he has acted in quite a few films, including Sarkar and Sarkar Raj.

 

Abhishek, in a recent interaction, revealed that a few months after shooting Yuva, Mani Ratnam called him and said, “Are you ready?” To this, Abhishek replied, “For what?” Mani Ratnam simply said, “For another one.” Abhishek recalled, “I was jumping with excitement. I think he sees something in you that you don’t see in yourself. He builds you up so that the next time, you are more prepared. And I think that’s a blessing for us as actors.”

 

Abhishek has quite a few films lined up, including the biggie Housefull 5, which is the fifth film in the comedy franchise by Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandson.
