Box Office: Chef has a very poor Week One, to fold up under Rs. 8 crore

It has turned out to be a horrendous run for Saif Ali Khan's Chef as the first week collections are the lowest amongst films that had a similar budget and released in 2017. If the start was poor, the follow through wasn't there either and that resulted in Week One numbers standing at a mere Rs. 6.25 crore*.Box Office: Chef has a very poor Week One, to fold up under Rs. 8 crore

The film has somehow managed to retain certain shows in the second week since there hasn't been any notable new release. However that wouldn't really help much since footfalls have been negligible in any case and the count of shows won't matter since there is no word of mouth to bring in new audience.

As a matter of fact it won't be surprising if the film finds its way into the online medium sooner than expected since that has been the trend for theatrical flops and disasters during last few weeks. In case of Chef though it is disappointing to see the kind of poor collections that have been demonstrated at the Box Office since the Raja Krishna Menon directed film isn't as bad as what the numbers would suggest.

However, in the record books Chef would go down as one of the biggest disasters in the recent times since the lifetime collections would struggle to touch even the Rs. 8 crore mark. Even that is on the higher side actually because if not for an open week ahead, a lifetime of Rs. 7 crore would have been tough as well.

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
