The extra-ordinary opening response to GADAR and LAGAAN may inspire many a film-maker to explore period subjects in the future. But even before other film-makers give it a thought, there is already a period film underway, for which the scripting is currently in progress. The film is being written, produced and directed by Raj Kanwar and is based on the history of Amritsar. "It is an intense story against the backdrop of Amritsar's history. That's all I can say at the moment," Kanwar tells you, refusing to divulge whether he has Sunny in mind for the lead role in the film, considering Sunny's popularity in the north. Apart from the scripting of the film, the shooting of his AB KE BARAS has already begun in full zest. This film marks the debut of Raj Babbar's son, Arya Babbar.
