It's official now!
People had been waiting for October 24 for Subhash Ghai to announce his new film. There were speculations galore and the rumour mills were busy making permutations and combinations vis-?is the casting of the Showman's next project. But Ghai maintained a dignified silence!
Every time I called Ghai to verify the news, the maker would evade the topic diplomatically. "Taran, you'd be the first to know about my new film," he kept telling me. And Ghai did live up to his word when he called this writer at midnight (October 23-24) to say that he is all set to announce two projects after sunrise.
On the 23rd anniversary of Mukta Arts on October 24 (today), Mukta Arts Ltd. will start not one, but two films.
The first project will star Sanjay Dutt and Govinda and will be directed by none other than David Dhawan. The film will have music by Anu Malik and lyrics by Anand Bakshi. It will roll with a song recording this week.
The second film will star Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal in lead roles and will be directed by Satish Kaushik. The film, written by Rumi Jaffrey, will go on the floors in December 2001.
"A few more projects are in the pipeline," Ghai tells me, adding in the same breath, "Just wait and watch."
