It has almost become a norm in Bollywood for film editors to take up direction these days. After Chandan Arora [MAIN MADHURI DIXIT BANNA CHAHTI HOON] and Apoorva Asrani [OUT OF CONTROL], it is now the turn of Rajkumar Hirani, the scissor-hands behind MISSION KASHMIR, to make his directorial debut with MUNNABHAI M.B.B.S., a Vidhu Vinod Chopra production. Marking the comeback of veteran actor Sunil Dutt with actor-son Sanjay Dutt, MUNNABHAI M.B.B.S. is a story of dreams and aspirations. Elaborates Hirani, Contrary to what the promos hint, it is not an out-and-out comedy. It has strong emotional undercurrents. You can say it's a feel-good film, belonging to the Hrishikesh Mukherjee genre of cinema. He adds, It's a heart-warming and endearing story of a local goon who decides to try his hand at the medical profession, which in turn leads to chaos and confusion.
