K.L. Saigal's bio launched on his death anniversary
Fans of legendary actor and singer K.L.Saigal can check out his biography Kundan, which was launched on his 63rd death anniversary on January 18. The book, written by former director of Doordarshan, Sharad Dutt, is an attempt to highlight the human side of the artiste who passed away in the year 1947 at the age of 42.
"I have tried to focus on his life and music, charting his journey from birth to death. I did extensive research on Saigal, while making documentaries on him and have compiled all that in the book," Dutt said.
"I was lucky that I got a chance to interact with some people, who knew Saigal and have worked with him. I also spoke to his family members in Jalandhar who have given me first-person accounts of his life," he added.
K.L.Saigal, the first superstar of the nation, ruled film music after his debut in 1932 and was role-model for Mukesh and Kishore Kumar.
