Grand Mahurat for Akbar Khan's Taj Mahal:

Writer-director-producer Akbar Khan's colossal historical 'Taj Mahal An Eternal Love Story' was launched in a grand way on Thursday, Feb 7, at the fascinating Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur. Maharaja Gaj Singh of Jodhpur sounded the opening clap on a specially erected white marble set with a fine replica of the Taj Mahal in the backdrop. This was followed by an engrossing mahurat shot depicting the agony of Emperor Shah Jahan when he tells his loving daughter Jahanara to go and convince his son Aurangzeb not to attack the Agra Fort and give him peace in return of his kingdom. A scintillating mukhda of one of the songs composed by the veteran music-maker Naushad and written by Naqsh Layallpuri, played in the background, transporting the audience at the fort to the royal Mughal era. Then the cast was finally revealed by Akbar Khan. The dashing Kabir Bedi plays the aging Emperor Shah Jahan, the beautiful Manisha Koirala plays his loving daughter princess Jahan Ara, the handsome Arbaaz Ali plays the just king Jahangir, the ravishing Pooja Batra plays the scheming queen Noorjahan, the sweet Kim Sharma plays the bubbly Laadili Begum and the dynamic Arbaaz Khan plays the strong-headed prince Aurangzeb. An interesting cast this. But Mr Akbar Khan is still to reveal the lead pair of the young Shah Jahan and the gorgeous Mumtaz Mahal most famous lovers of all time. Who will bag these coveted roles, still remains a mystery to most.
